Hunting Reports 2008
Read MoreHere I am snuggled down in Julien's duck boat just happy as a clam and scoping out the bay looking for some birds. I am now shooting my new Benelli Super Black Eagle II in lefty version loaded with 3 1/2 inch Federal "Black Cloud" ammo. This combination proved deadly last week on the sea ducks but I had no shots today. Also these photos are taken with my new waterproof, shockproof 10 megapixel Olympus Stylus 1030 SW camera. It takes great shots and I am not afraid to take it into the field or on the water and it slips into my shirt pocket. Great gun and camera!
Julien and Chris waiting on the ducks. They came but not all the way. It was a little dissapointing but sometimes they win and we still had some laughs and enjoyed the comraderie and that is what it is really all about.
Thanks Julien and Chris for a great day in the marshes of the Great South Bay.

I hunted/fished today with Jim Conte. We looked for bait this morning after talking to Capt. Dave Zarello about his good day yesterday. We saw gulls working and tried for shad but got none.
We were really geared up for seaduck hunting so I didn't spend too much time looking for fish. Not much happening that I could see so we went hunting in the ocean.
We found the birds big time. It was a great hunt with thousands of Scoters working along the outer beach.
We had a fun shoot and I enjoyed the change from fishing to hunting. Jim and I always have a good time with the hunts. Today was exceptional. The Federal Black Cloud ammo was devestating on these tough birds. I am holding a pair of immature surf scoters. There were some Oldsquaw around but mostly surf scoters.
It was another great day on the water and the hunting season is now on. Regular duck season opens on Thanksgiving Day and that opens up the possibility of hunting in the bay instead of the ocean however I will make every attempt I can to get back to the seaducks in the ocean.
