Tim and I left New York for Mexico. Although a light snow had hit the ground, we were sure everything would be just fine. A delay at the airport however forced us to become stranded in Houston, waiting for another flight that would lead us to our final destination - Lake El Salto! Stay tuned as we will begin fishing tomorrow - Monday, with a full report to follow.

The 5th arrived without a hitch in our plans. As you can see by the scenery, the saltwater bite should be hot and heavy once we hit the water. Stay tuned for more info as Tim and I continue on our Mazatlan adventure.

I hate to rub it in but; while you guys back home are shoveling snow tomorrow Tom and I will be Billfishing off Mazatlan. We are staying at the Holiday Inn in Mazatlan and I have to say this place is amazing. This is the restaurant and bar that is surrounded by the pool which overlooks the Pacific Ocean.

After a day of travel Tom and I enjoyed a couple of cocktails and saw a great sunset. We will be heading out early for some exciting Billfish action.

Capt. David and the Aries Fleet brought us to the hot spot on Tuesday morning. After trolling for about 30 minutes, the throttles surged as Capt. Dave saw a surfacing striped marlin. His precise boat handling put the bait right in the path of this 75-pounder, which was quickly released at boatside.

With five boats on the troll looking for marlin, and our 75 pounder the only one boated, Capt. Dave continued his search. Another half-hour of trolling was rewarded by this 9 footer, estimated at over 200 pounds. Both Tim and I battled the fish for about a half hour before bringing it on board for a photo session.
Stay tuned for more as we now head for Lake El Salto and their trophy largemouth bass action!

As you can see, the view alone is worth the stay. And, with a staff of over 60, you can bet your bottom dollar you will be pampered like no fishing trip you have ever taken. And, the top notch bass action will have your arms tired at the day's end.

The early morning bite saw Heddon Zara Spooks the prime target for hefty bass. This bass, which weighed in at 8 pounds slammed a spook just as we entered a shallow cove. To find out exactly whereI caught this one, click on the "map this" button at the top of the page. After the map opens, find the photo, and the lake and hot spot can be easily viewed.

Anglers Inn boasts top quality guides on all their bass boats. Here's Jonathan Munday and Gary Bessmer from Long Island, working a stump field, looking for the elusive 10 pounder!
For the outdoor enthusiest, the scenery is breathtaking, with brilliant sunrises and sunsets along the mountains.
