We caught a number of small snook and one keeper. Here is a typical small backwater snook taken on live pilchard.
Here is was with a keeper redfish also taken on a pilchard.
Annmarie was working the bank of this Mangrove for snook and redfish.
Today, the 13th we did see big permit. It was the first that we saw and we also spotted what we believe was a good size tarpon. The water has finally cleaned up a little so maybe tomorrow will be the day for big permit and tarpon.

Today Wes and I fished Cape Romano. We first tried some other spots. We ran south to Chokoloskee and fished in Indian Key Pass but it was poor fishing. We tried a couple of other spots with not much luck. We ran back to Cape Romano where the fishing has been real consistent. Big snook were around and we could see them as we motored with the trolling motor over the flats but they would not take a bait. We anchored up near a drain and fished live pilchards. We hooked up with three big "gator" spotted trout. They were all from 5 to 7 pounds. They were about as big as they get in these waters, real nice fish. This is Wes showing off our catch. It was a beautiful day with sunshine and calm winds.

At the end of the day back at the marina where we fuel up we had some fun feeding the pelicans some of our left-over live pilchards. They are hilarious to watch when they fight over their treats. We then had a barbecue at Wes's parents house. It was a real great day.

This is Bob with his nice keeper snook. It was a great day of fishing. We packed it in at 5:30 and ran back on a flat calm Gulf with a beautiful sunset. We all went up to Jammers Sport's Bar in Naples for some cocktails and good food. It is a really nice place. Today was so good that we might have to try it again tomorrow.

It's groundhog day and we decided that we should go fishing. After a morning of golf on the championship course at Fiddler's Creek, Wes, Bob, Sean and I headed out about 12 noon to catch the flood tide on Cape Romano. We netted a big bunch of live bait first and then headed for the fishing grounds. We stopped in Blind Pass first and caught a few trout and jacks. We then tried a couple of other spots and finally hit a hot one. We caught 5 snook with two about 15 pounds and a gator trout of about 5 pounds. This is Sean with his nice keeper snook. He also caught the big trout.

This is me just two hours after landing in Fort Meyers. Wes got the big bass and I caught the big snook for the afternoon of fishing. This fish was taken on a live shiner. It took about 10 minutes to get it to the boat. I was using light spinning tackle. I estimate its weight at about 20 pounds. What a blast. I was also working on my tan as you can see.

This is Wes Little with a huge largemouth bass. The fish went about 6 pounds, maybe a bit more. We were fishing in Fiddler's Creek which is a brackish body of water right on the property of Wes's condo complex. It is loaded with bass, snook, tarpon and all sorts of other cool fish. We have had tarpon to 50 pounda and snook over 20 pounds. This is the largest bass to date. We fish in a collapsible rubber boat. There are lots of big alligators in this creek which makes for some interesting moments.

This is a 20 inch spotted trout, the southern cousin of the weakfish. I cought this one on a live pilchard fished in Blind Pass on Cape Romano. Wes Little and I had a good day with a bunch of trout and jacks. We went looking for snook and reds but didn't find any that were in a biting mood. Wes's new PathFinder is a great boat. In the morning we loaded up on live bait. I threw the cast net and we put a ton of pilchards and thread fin herring into the live wells. This boat had 100 gallons of live well space. We filled it up.
