Pete and Jimmy with a few of the birds from today. We had common, white wing and surf scooter in the bag. They are really tough birds to knock down. We finally had the rig right about noon. Then they came right. You had to really use large shot because most were in the 30 to 40 yard range. I used three and a half triple BB and it worked pretty good. It was a fun day with my buddies.
The view from the boat. We used a minimal rig as you can see in the upper right hand corner. You don't need much to pull these kind of birds and small is easy to rig. We set up on an anchor ball for fast pick up of downed birds. When they passed us they came pretty good.
A very enjoyable day with the guys.

Jim Conte and Pete Johnston laughing it up with a couple of nice black duck taken on the Peconic River Sportsman's Club. It was a beautiful morning. We had a good time and some nice shooting.
The vistas at the club are just outstanding. You would think you were far upstate. A very nice reflective shot of wood duck decoys on the pond. Outdoor activities are the best.

I hunted today with Pete Johnston pictured here and Jimmy Conte. We had a pretty good opening day at the Peconic Club bagging black duck, mallards and wood duck.
Yours truly with black ducks and a nice drake wood duck.
Here is Jimmy with black duck and wood duck.
It was a fun day in a beautiful setting. It was really blowing and I was glad not to be on the open waters of the bay.

Great shot of Cody with his prize buck heading back from a day in the woods. Nice trophys for a young man. I know plenty of guys that have hunted for years and never scored with beautiful bucks like these.
Good going Cody and congratualtions and wishes for many more years of hunting. Good job to you also Michael for bringing another young hunter into the fold.

Pictured her is Mike Girraputo and his son Cody. This was Cody's first season hunting alone in a stand. This 10 point buck was taken with a muzzleloader in Virginia. Notice the nice shot just behind the shoulder.
