A great shot of Wes with Tanner showing him the finer points of spin-casting from the beach on Cape Romano. Ten minutes later, Tanner was showing Wes a few new tricks.
If fishing all day is not enough, when you get home and take a nice bath to freshen up before dinner you take a live mullet in the tub instead of a rubber ducky.

Here is Craig Georgi with a couple of pompano from Cape Romano. We had a good day as mentioned on yesterdays report.
We had an excellent meal of pompano which are very tasty.
Today was a great day of fishing. Wes, Craig, and I had a lot of fun fishing on the shoals south of Cape Romano. We caught two permit up to about 35 pounds. We also had a bonus of a Blacktip shark about a hundred pounds and a black drum about 40 pounds. A few pompano were also part of the bag. Here is Craig Georgi with a nice 35 pound permit.
An OK Blacktip shark of about 100 pounds grabbed the bait and we had fun for a while. Wes fought him for about 20 minutes on light tackle. Craig did the release duty.
When we first got to the fishing grounds, we spotted a large school of black drum just cruising near the surface. We threw jigs at them and they ate right away. It was a lengthy battle getting them to the boat. They were all released.
This is not the greatest photo because I didn't have a polarizing filter on the camera but you should be able to see the fish moving near the surface. I estimate there were about 150 Drum up to maybe 80 pounds in the school.

Today was a good fishing day. The winds were calm and sun was warm. We saw many large tarpon and fished for them for a few hours. We jumped one fish between 80-100 poundsand that was it for tarpon. We saw one pod of permit but didn't get a shot at them as they moved and sounded very quickly. The best fishing of the day was for pompano. We caught about 15 real nice pompano on jigs tipped with shrimp. They are one of the best eating fish in all of Florida. Tonight is a barbecue at Wes's parents house and pompano is on the menu.
This is a shot of the heron that frequents our dock. We feed him left-over bait and he is very tame.
He struck a beautiful pose for us showing his plumage.
Photos of pompano to come.

I am down in Marco Island visiting Wes Little. The weather has been poor with winds out of the west and rain early in the week. West winds mean discolored water and tough fishing. Wes and his girlfriend AnnMarie and Craig Georgi and I fished pretty hard for the last few days. Here is Craig running to get a net for Wes's Redfish.
