My Wife and I spent this last weekend over at Sailors Haven marine to enjoy a little Indian Summer. While I was out walking the dogs I saw plane flying very low and SILENT. I watched as the plane glided over the sunken forest, at that point I lost sight of the plane. Many people on the dock saw the same thing as I did. I quickly grabbed my camera and went looking for the plane. When we arrived at the main overlook at Sailors Haven and looked to the west where we thought the plane would be and saw nothing? The small group that saw the plane disappear over the sunken forest assembled on the overlook but none of could see the plane.
As it turned out the plane ditched closer to Point O woods and was not visible from the main overlook.

All on board where safe. The plane had a fuel problem over the Great South Bay when switching tanks.
The belly of the plane bounced off the dune before stopping on the shoreline.
You can see where the beach grass was pushed down.
